Fiscal year 2022-2023 was the first year for CALL’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee (“D&I”). The committee co-chairs were Ariel Scotese and Julie Pabarja, and Jonathan Hawkins, Lucy Kelly, and Juanita Harrell served as members.
The committee met a few times each month to discuss their charge and set goals for the year. Our initial meetings focused on what diversity and inclusion meant to the committee. There were good discussions around this topic and the challenges libraries face when trying to be inclusive.
The Diversity and Inclusion Committee is a new CALL committee created as part of the new strategic goal to “Implement policies that ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion awareness, support, and initiatives.”
The 2021-2022 CALL Placement & Recruitment Committee (“committee”) was comprised of Co-Chairs Todd Ito and Julie Pabarja, Valerie Kropf, Sean Rebstock, and Diana Koppang. Carrie Port was the Board Liaison.
The committee started the year by discussing the committee charge and the initiatives in the CALL Strategic Plan assigned to this committee to handle. The 2020-2021 CALL Placement & Recruitment Committee (“committee”) was comprised of Julie Pabarja (Chair), Valerie Kropf and Sean Rebstock. Megan Butman was the Board Liaison.
The committee started the year by reviewing and suggesting edits to the committee charge, the job posting form and the job placement terms & conditions found on the CALL website. The Committee started seeking nominations for candidates to run for Director, Treasurer, and Vice President/President Elect in August 2017 via the CALL listserv and recommendations from the Board and Committee members. The Committee identified members who would be suitable for these Executive Board positions and asked them to be put on the slate. The CALL Handbook provides a description of each Executive Board position. Successful candidates will take office at the end of the May 2018 CALL Business Meeting.

The 2016-2017 Grants and Chapter Awards Committee was charged with selecting grant recipients based on established criteria for CALL members to attend professional meetings as well as selecting recipients of the chapter awards.
Another year for CALL has ended and a new Board will take over soon. It has been a great honor being your President and working with so many of you to ensure that CALL provides value to its members. Thank you for your support this past year!
CALL’s success is due to the dedication and commitment of so many of our members.
