The only things I knew about Austin were what most people probably know . . . it’s home to great barbecue, the University of Texas, the state capitol, and the South By Southwest Festival. But I knew there must be so much more to Austin than that, and how can you not love a place where the city’s slogan is “Keep Austin Weird”!? It had always seemed like it would be an interesting place to visit someday, so when I saw the 2017 Annual Conference was being held there, I was excited. Being a first-time member of the Annual Meeting Program Committee made me more determined than ever to attend. Receiving a CALL grant was instrumental in making that possible. CALL Runs the Race Judicata

From the Editors
The end of the summer is drawing close (or has already passed, if Labor Day is your end; I’ll cling to the idea of summer as long as I can), and the CALL Bulletin is here to escort it out. This issue features recaps of AALL in Austin and ALA, which was here in Chicago this year.
We also feature our annual committee reports and information about nominations for the next year’s CALL Board of Directors. And I hope you’re ready for the MAALL, LLAW, MichALL, MALL, and CALL Joint Annual Meeting that will convene in Milwaukee this October. More information inside.
Happy reading,
Your Editors
President’s Letter
Hello CALL members!
It’s time to go back to school! Law firms are losing those summer associates and gaining the associates who just took the bar. Court libraries will see new clerks and miss the old summer externs. Law schools are gearing up for another semester with new students, new faculty, and the same old questions about how to use the printers.
No matter where we work, the new school year brings CALL members exciting learning opportunities. Continue reading President’s Letter

Heading Back to Austin for AALL
In July I had the pleasure of returning to my hometown of Austin for the AALL Annual Meeting, which was made possible by a CALL grant. I attended educational sessions on topics that ranged from directly relevant to my current position in reference to others that were considerably less so (in a good way). Suffice to say, the programming was as spicy as the Tex-Mex, so I thought that I would highlight three sessions in this report and mention a few others that were of particular interest. Archives Committee Annual Report
At the May 2017 CALL Business meeting, CALL celebrated its 70th Anniversary. The Archives Committee assisted the anniversary committee with information about CALL and photos for display at the May meeting. In addition to supplying this information, there were also some inquiries for archival materials and an in-person visit. Continue reading Archives Committee Annual Report
Bylaws Committee Annual Report
No revisions or amendments were proposed or adopted to the Chicago Association of Law Libraries Bylaws in 2016-2017. The Chair confirmed with the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Bylaws Committee Chair that no AALL Bylaws amendments or revisions have been proposed or adopted which would require CALL Bylaws harmonization.
