On Thursday, October 9, 2026, the CALL Nominations and Elections Committee hosted a Question-and-Answer event with the CALL Board. Committee members Mandy Lee (Chair & CALL President 2023-24) and Julie Pabarja (CALL President 2015-16), along with Board members Todd Hillmer (Vice President), Joanne Kiley (Secretary), Jill Meyer (President), and Kristen Naik (Director), shed insight into CALL Board service for the attendees. The purpose of the discussion was to share, with prospective CALL Board candidates, the ins and outs of Board work.
The participants answered several questions, such as, “What do you do in your Board role?” To the query, “Why should a CALL member run for the Board?” several participants chimed in responses including:
- Build leadership skills, management skills
- Great way to get involved and get back to the organization.
- I would not be where I am in my career if not for CALL
- Great network – you can any questions about professional things
Last but not certainly not least, one Board member offered this piece of advice for anyone who is considering running for a role on the Board:
- Make sure you’re available at that time. Look at your other commitments and make sure you’re able to commit the time to it.
