Our summer pull is perhaps a bit more introspective, even as it reminds us of the importance of community.
We don’t always give a lot of thought to air. It’s around us all the time, after all, and unless we’ve gotten an unusual amount of smoke from, say, Canadian wildfires (a memorable addition to our Chicago skies last year), or we have a lung issue. But air is essential, and all around us, and as such it is a good reminder to look at what we don’t necessarily see and check in on ourselves. Take time for nourishment this summer, and take care of yourself.
While Air reminds us to take care of what might go unseen, Togetherness reminds us of the importance of community. Anyone who has read Winnie-the-Pooh knows that the animals of the Hundred Acre Wood are always in community with each other (and with whatever reader they pull along, too), and here, Roo, Piglet, and Pooh are working together to save Eeyore, whose despair has carried him off with the currents. Look to your communities this summer, both as a source of strength and as a space to build and strengthen ties.
