A Winter Issue Card Pull

It’s been a rough start to the year, which this issue’s cards seem to reflect.

The Hat Man, a man-like shape in a hat with a vaguely threatening shadow; the card says THE HAT MAN, Pennsylvania June 2021: Inescapable fear - So much of a relationship is in the frequency of encounters - You will survive even this

Our oracle pull, once again from the Eerie Encounters oracle deck, has a lot to say about darkness and fear–but also reminds us that, despite the dark, we will emerge on the other side.

The Ace of Honey Pots (in traditional Ryder-Waite this would be the Ace of Cups) is more positive than the Hat Man, and a good compliment to its overwhelming horror.

The Ace reminds us of the power of love, community, and emotions, reminding us that the way past the Hat Man’s horror is together.

A note on the decks

Both decks come from my collection of indie tarot and oracle decks.

The Hat Man comes from Eerie Encounters: A Cryptid Oracle Deck, created by Bedlam Arts & Goods (aka Eamon MacNamee).

The Ace of Honey Pots comes from the Wisdom of Pooh tarot deck, created by Serafina and Angel Mesa and illustrated by Kat L. Amsel for Rue and Vervain.
