This year, CALL is turning 75 years old. As we all know, the traditional gift for a 75th anniversary is a diamond, but the lesser-known tradition for 75th Anniversaries of law library organizations is being on a boat–the bigger the better. And so, on a beautiful evening in June, CALL members new and old gathered on the deck of the Columbia Yacht Club to celebrate the organization that has meant so much to so many of us over the years.
From high above the water aboard the Q.S.M.V. Abegweit, CALL members enjoyed beverages, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and stunning views of the city’s skyline, all the while mingling with colleagues. And while I would never go so far as to give credit to the virus that ravaged our plans for the last two years, I would venture to say that the social atmosphere of the event was enhanced by the lack of in-person CALL activities in the years leading up to the event.
Special thanks to Tom Keefe, our resident Columbia Yacht Club member, for putting us in contact with the right people at CYC and helping with logistics, and to the CALL 75th Anniversary Planning Committee for doing most of the heavy lifting in planning this event. This is why we can have nice things.
Finally, I want to recognize and thank our sponsors for this event–Thomson Reuters and LexisNexis. Thanks also to LexisNexis for providing delicious cupcakes for the event.
