Archives Come Back to Loyola

After 10 years at the Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Law, the CALL archives have returned to the Chicago city limits. The archives—which include administrative records, publications, and photographs from CALL events over the years—will now return to the library at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Making the round trip, the archives moved from Loyola in 2007 due to a lack of storage space.  The Archives Committee Chair at the time, Therese Clarke Arado, offered to house the archives at NIU, where they remained until September of this year.

The Invisible Benefits of Library School

I have worked in libraries for the last 14 years in a variety of roles, but it was only last year that I decided to attend a graduate program in Library and Information Sciences. Since I am a full time staff member at Loyola University Chicago’s Law Library and commute almost 3 hours a day to my home in the Western Suburbs, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s online program was the most obvious choice for me. The convenience of online classes for scheduling, comfort, and flexibility are obvious, but, in the last year, I have discovered so many additional, “invisible” benefits for students and full time librarians. Julia Wentz receives Lifetime Achievement Award

CALL and the Chicago academic law library community became the beneficiaries of Julia’s expertise and experience when she joined the Loyola University School of Law Library in 1998. Throughout her career, Julia has developed a strong record of participation in law librarianship associations and their activities. Julia served on the CALL Board of Directors from 2003 to 2005, and was also a member of the Program Committee, the Public Relations Committee, and the Grants and Awards Committee.
