We presented on the topic of current awareness at the MAALL, LLAW, MichALL, MALL, and CALL Joint Annual Meeting on October 19, 2017. We thought it was important to offer the perspective of a firm, academic, and government librarian to reflect the needs of an audience with diverse constituencies. With the buzz around “fake news,” now more than ever it is important for librarians to discuss the best ways to disseminate information. During our presentation, we discussed the current awareness tools we use to stay current, how we stay organized with the current awareness and prevent becoming overwhelmed with information, and finally how we can collaborate and tap into our professional network to expand information possibilities. It has taken nearly two years, but we are proud to announce that in late February the archive of the CALL Bulletin will be available on HeinOnline’s Law Library Shelf. The unveiling of the collection was timed to coincide with CALL’s 70th Anniversary. The archive dates back to 1952, and moving forward every new issue of the Bulletin will be added to the archive. Now, all of CALL’s good work will be show-cased to a wider audience. Unfortunately, we are still missing the first eight issues of the Bulletin. If you happen to have copies, or suggestions for locating the missing copies, please contact Annie Mentkowski, CALL Historian, via email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Should you need another access point to the archive, the Hein project has not replaced the other CALL Bulletin archives. Digitized issued dating back to issue no. 178 (Fall 2000) will still be available on the CALL website. And, the original print copies of the entire archive are housed at the David C. Shapiro Memorial Law Library at Northern Illinois University. If you have any questions regarding the CALL archive please contact the Archives Committee co-chairs, Clanitra Nejdl (email@example.com) or Pat Sayre-McCoy (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We would like to send a big thank you to HeinOnline for all of their hard work in digitizing and preserving the CALL Bulletin. And, a special thank you to Lyo Louis-Jacques, who spearheaded this excellent initiative.

Spring time in Chicago. Hooray! We’ve had snow and rain, and it’s been very cold, but I have seen shoots of leaves and flowers blooming, so we’re leaving behind the old and bringing in the new. Like the weather, the CALL Bulletin is changing. This is my last column as co-editor and the end of my three-year term as co-chair of the Bulletin Committee.
I have enjoyed shepherding our AALL award-winning newsletter to its hybrid WordPress blog and PDF formats. Since the format change with the Fall 2014 CALL Bulletin issue, we’ve had over 15,000 views, with a peak of 2,149 views in January 2016. The art in CALL libraries and Chicago International theme issues were very popular as well as our AALL in Philly supplemental summer issue. And a project that I started with co-editor Lindsey Carpino and Bulletin Historian, Annie Mentkowski, is coming to fruition. We are going to get the CALL Bulletin content archived in and accessible via HeinOnline. Stay tuned! Continue reading From the Editors

LC: You are currently a student at University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) living on campus. How long have you been a Graduate Assistant in the Law Library?
ML: I started the assistantship last August. I can’t believe it has been eight months!
LC: What made you decide to become a law librarian?
ML: A few years ago, I debated between applying to law school and library and information science graduate school. Law school was something I had considered since college. On the other hand, I love helping people and finding information, so librarianship seemed like a natural combination of the two. I ended up deciding to apply to law school, but librarianship was still in the back of my mind. The timing was finally right to go to library school, so here I am! As a co-editor of the CALL Bulletin, I often get e-mails from the Council of Newsletter Editors (CONE) regarding AALL chapter newsletters that have recently become published. After reading the newsletters of other chapters, I began wondering if there was a list of all the chapter publications. I could not find one, so I decided to create one. I wanted to easily share with everyone the great content that our fellow chapters and AALL Special Interest Sections (SISes) are putting out for us to enjoy and learn from. It is really inspiring to share in such a wonderful and thought-provoking community! When you have some time, check out the newsletters and blogs of our peers. Enjoy!
