CALL Strategic Planning Committee 2021-2022 Annual Report

The 2021-2022 Special Committee members were Julie Pabarja, Matt Timko, Clanitra S. Nejdl, Jessie LeMar, Jean M. Wenger (chair), and Carrie Port (Board Liaison). 

 The Special Committee worked with the CALL Executive Board to revise and update CALL’s Strategic Plan to incorporate the Direction: Policy Implementation and Structural Review, with goals focused on diversity and inclusion. CALL Bylaws Committee 2019-2020 Annual Report

The 2019-2020 CALL Archives Committee was comprised of Committee Co-Chairs Patricia Sayre-McCoy and Jean Wenger

The Bylaws Committee met once during the 2019/2020 CALL year. There were no updates to the Bylaws for the current year and so no amendments were drafted or voted upon.

The Committee Chairs were engaged in the CALL leadership activities and responsive to enquires from the Board.

CALL Corporate Memory Committee 2019-2020 Annual Report

The 2019-2020 Committee members were chair Jean Wegner, Susan Siebers, Betty Roeske, and Heidi Kuehl. Phillip Johnson, CALL Secretary, was the Board liaison. Susan needed to withdraw from the Committee mid-year. We appreciate and acknowledge her longstanding dedication to CALL and our corporate memory. Winter 2020, Grants & Chapter Awards

Highlights from IALL Annual Course in Sydney

Yaama.* A CALL grant facilitated my attendance at the 38th Annual Course of the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL) held in Sydney, Australia, October 27-30. “Law Down Under: Australia’s Legal Landscape” drew 132 delegates (attendees) from 21 countries with 48% being first-time delegates.

See the World from the 29th Floor: The FCIL Collection at Cook County Law Library

“I need the law of … Turkey and Argentina and Japan and Qatar.” To meet the legal research needs of the legal profession, county residents, and businesses engaged in the global community, the Foreign and International Law Division at the Cook County Law Library (CCLL) contains legal information resources from jurisdictions around the world. In this brief article, I would like to introduce CALL members and others to the range of global resources located in CCLL at the Daley Center. Art on the 29th Floor

Artwork from the Cook County Law Library

The Cook County Law Library has an ongoing collaboration with the Illinois Artisans Program of the Illinois State Museum to display the work of juried artists in the Law Library. The Illinois Artisans Program provides venues for Illinois artisans to display and promote their work.

Artisans work in a range of media. To date, artwork in the Law Library has included oil paintings, photographs, and oil pastels. The art exhibitions are on semi-annual rotation cycle.

Cook County Law Library Marks a Milestone

The Cook County Law Library has provided public access to legal information and research services to the members of the local community since its establishment in 1963. On September 26, the Cook County Law Library celebrated 50 years of service to the legal profession and larger community and rededicated the Law Library to another 50 years of public service.

We were honored to have Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Keith Ann Stiverson, Director of the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law Library, address our distinguished guests in a ceremony in the Daley Center Foyer. Following the ceremony, the Law Library welcomed guests to an open house on the 29th Floor.

We wish to acknowledge the law library and legal community who we have been privileged to serve for half a century. We look forward to continuing to offer authoritative legal resources and a skilled, service-oriented staff to all. We are grateful for your enduring support.
