New CALL member, Stacia Stein, is a graduate student in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a member of the CALL Bulletin Committee.

Fellow Bulletin Committee member, Juanita Harrell, recently interviewed her so we could all get to know her a little better.

JH: Tell us a little about yourself.

Meet New CALL Member Heather Hummons

New CALL member, Heather Hummons, is the Head of Access Services at DePaul University College of Law. Fellow Call Bulletin Committee member, Jill Meyer, recently interviewed her so we could get to know her.

JM: How did you get your start working in libraries?

HH: I actually started working in libraries back in 2000 as a part-time circulation clerk. As the years progressed, I received several promotions within that department beginning with a transition to the part-time weekend circulation supervisor to a full-time position as a Library Assistant I, functioning as the primary circulation desk attendant and in charge of library billing. When the position for Circulation Manager opened in 2004, I applied and was hired. AALL Honors CALL’s Sally Holterhoff with 2015 Gallagher Award

Congratulations, Sally!  I am proud to announce that The American Association of Law Libraries will be awarding Sarah (Sally) G. Holterhoff the Marian Gould Gallagher Distinguished Service Award — AALL’s highest honor. Sally is associate professor of law librarianship and government information/reference librarian at the Valparaiso University Law School Library.  The Gallagher Award acknowledges those individuals who have sustained service to law librarianship, exemplary association support, and outstanding professional literature contributions. CALL Member Heidi Kuehl Appointed NIU Law Library Director

CALL member Heidi Frostestad Kuehl recently joined the Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Law as an associate professor and the director of the law library. Prior to joining NIU, Heidi was the associate director for research and reference services and the foreign, comparative, and international law librarian at Northwestern University’s law library. 

Heidi has also worked as a law librarian for Marquette University and taught international legal research at the John Marshall Law School. Heidi received her M.A. in Library Science from the University of Iowa, and her J.D. from Valparaiso University. CALL Bulletin Committee member Kara Dunn recently caught up with Heidi to find out how she is settling into her new role.

Meet New CALL Member Clanitra Stewart

Clanitra Stewart recently joined the library faculty at the Northern Illinois University College of Law as a Reference and Instructional Services Librarian and Assistant Professor. Clanitra has previously worked for the South Carolina Appleseed Justice Center, where she provided policy advocacy on behalf of low-income communities, and the Georgia Legal Services Program, where she represented indigent clients in a variety of civil cases.

She received an MLIS from the School of Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina in 2013, and a J.D. from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 2000. Meet New CALL Member George Pike

George H. Pike, Northwestern Law, February 10, 2014George Pike began his new position as Director of the Pritzker Legal Research Center and Senior Lecturer at the Northwestern University School of Law in November, coming to Northwestern after nine years as Director of the Law Library at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Memories of Gail Hartzell

CALL and the law library community have experienced a great loss with the death of Gail Hartzell on October 21, 2013. Gail joined CALL in 2002 when she was hired as Acquisitions Librarian at the Valparaiso University Law School, and immediately became active on committees, continuing to volunteer after she retired in 2012.  To quote one committee chair, “Gail has been the first to volunteer. When she was handling the task, there is no need to follow up with her.  You know it will be handled.” Continue reading Memories of Gail Hartzell
