The Community Service Committee identifies appropriate areas for community service and coordinates opportunities for CALL members to volunteer time or make donations to worthwhile organizations including donation collections at each business meeting.

Community Service Committee – Cradles to Crayons

In conjunction with the February Business Meeting, the CALL Community Service Committee coordinated a volunteer clothes-sorting outing at Cradles to Crayons on Saturday March 11th with CALL members Brandy Ellis, Mandy Lee, Beth Schubert, Stacia Stein, Leah Whitesel, and Mike McMillan attending.

Special thanks to Chicago-Kent Law students Shabnam Mahammadli and Khrystna Slyusarchuk for joining us as well as the team at Cradles to Crayons for providing great guidance in a fun environment.  We also raised money to support Open Books. CALL Community Service Committee 2021-2022 Annual Report

CALL Volunteers Help GCFD to Wrap up 2021

The Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) is Chicago’s food bank and partners with over 700 local agencies and food assistance programs, including pantries, soup kitchens and shelters for children, older adults and veterans to fight hunger.

They rely on volunteers to repackage bulk amounts of food into smaller, shareable quantities that can be distributed throughout the Chicagoland area and Cook County.

CALL Community Service Committee 2020-2021 Annual Report

Volunteer Day at Greater Chicago Food Depository

On Saturday, March 9, 2019,  the Community Service Committee organized a trip to the Greater Chicago Food Depository with nine volunteers, to help repack bulk fruit for distribution to local shelters, soup kitchens and food pantries.

At the February 2019 Business Meeting, CALL’s Community Service Committee collected $249 in cash donations for the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless and 4 bags of non-perishable food for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Continue reading Volunteer Day at Greater Chicago Food Depository
